College and University Counseling Center

College and university counseling centers are often the first line of professional intervention when providing therapeutic services to a student. Counselors offer assistance to students who are experiencing any of the following: depression, anxiety, mood swings, fearfulness, thoughts of suicide or homicide, poor concentration, recent loss of a loved one or significant other, troubled or abusive relationships, nervousness or tension, difficulty adjusting to college life, low self-esteem, and substance abuse. While there may be a range of reasons a student seeks assistance, concerns may arise about the potential for aggression and violence. In these cases, we can conduct a direct violence risk potential evaluation or indirect threat assessment.
